Pete McDonald

Drums & Percussion

In the early part of 2005, Brian Wilkinson was looking for a drummer to reform his Blues/Rock trio “Backlash. Brian was looking for that certain something but he wasn't certain what - until quite by chance Brian bumped into Pete at a “Mr Bones” gig in Ashton. After a few beers both parties realised that they shared remarkably similar musical interests. A rehearsal quickly ensued and everything else fell into place within the next few weeks.

Pete has always liked to make a noise with anything to hand, and when he got the chance to play drums properly in a rock 'n' roll band called Wildcat there was no stopping him. Influenced to start playing drums by his uncle – “Jimmy McDonald” a well known and respected drummer, who has lived in New Mills, Derbyshire most of his life.

Musical influences are fairly diverse, and cover most styles of music and playing. Drummers such as Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix), Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy) and Ian Paice (Deep Purple) have been and continue to be a solid source of inspiration.

Many musical styles of playing have been covered at one time or another, with a strong leaning towards hard driving Rock & Blues.

Pete is also an accredited drum teacher, who uses the 'Drumsense' teaching method developed by acclaimed drummer and teacher Colin Woolway. Check out the drumsense wesite link above for more information.
