Some Blokes

Formed in 1993 as “Backlash” and still going strong these exponents of “Explosive Blues/Rock” continue to pack ‘em in at the most prestigious venues all over the North West of England and beyond. They are fronted by the volatile expertise of veteran guitarist Brian Wilkinson whose career harks back to the late 1960’s when he worked with all the notables of Manchester ’s Rock and Blues heyday.

Throughout each Hell for Leather set Brian lays down an uncompromising pace, knocking out all the legendary classics with a bygone authenticity that has dedication stamped all over each and every offering.

The ghostly screaming eccentricity of Hendrix’s ‘Voodoo Child’ rakes the embers and simply commands disciplic attentiveness, whilst Rory Gallagher’s ‘Messin’ With The Kid is performed with a rebellious joyriding confidence that was the hallmark of the late lamented Irishman’s zest for doing it his way.

Supported in no small measure by drummer Peter McDonald, displaying an articulated know-how of everything he does, while bassist John Hallam takes it all in his very laconic stride, laying on the bass thing like he’s out for a casual stroll on a nice day in Rockland.

Nobody sleeps while Some Blokes are on and if you’re into sleepy shores forget it – Rock and Blues insomniacs only.
